Lost in translation: from crypto to quack

Lost in translation: from crypto to quack

During a recent meeting with customers, I made a mistake

What I meant to say:👉 The key is that we don’t need quantum computers to prepare for malicious quantum computers. We just need to adopt the right cryptography.

What I actually said:👉 “The duck is that we don’t need quantum computers…

”Laughter filled the room. I realized I had mixed up kimo (key point) 肝with kamo (duck) 鴨in Japanese.

It broke the tension instantly. Everyone laughed, myself included. And the meeting felt lighter, more human.

I used to imagine that meeting rooms in large financial institutions would always be rigid, formal, and intimidating. Coming from a fulfillment operations background, that was my mental picture.

But moments like this remind me:💡 Humor, generosity, and a little humanity make all the difference. Behind the formalities and the suits, we’re all just people trying to do our jobs
